Heather McElrath is the Founder and CEO of Sandbox Communications, a digital marketing and communications agency built on one foundational belief: being found is not an accident — it is a craft. A 30-year veteran who has worked across journalism, global banking (Freddie Mac, Rabobank), fintech, and national nonprofits (Nacha, Jump$tart), Heather brings rare cross-industry depth to every client she serves. When COVID disrupted the corporate career she had worked for years to build, she launched Sandbox Communications out of necessity — and discovered, two and a half years into survival mode, that she had built something she genuinely loved. Today she helps small business owners show up on Google and AI platforms through local SEO, content strategy, and a playful, human-first approach that makes marketing feel less like guesswork and more like joy. She also serves as Marketing Partner at CastleBridge Communications, Fractional Communications Director for the Innovative Payments Association, and adjunct PR instructor at Borough of Manhattan Community College. Heather holds an MBA in Marketing from The George Washington University, a BA in Communication Studies, and certificates in AI, Google SEO, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
